Investment Companies (OEICs)

Reasons to consider investing in an Open-Ended Investment Company (OEIC) with myM&G

At M&G, our most common funds are called Open-Ended Investment Companies (OEICs). If you choose to invest in one of these, you can hold it in a tax-efficient Individual Savings Account (ISA), or separately in a GIA (General Investment Account).

How do OEICs work?

  • By investing in an OEIC, you'll be part of a managed fund with many investors' money pooled together
  • All that pooled money is used to buy investments across a range of different assets (dependent on the goal of the fund)
  • Diversified investments offer more potential for growth, and can help decrease your investment risk
  • All investments are managed by a professional fund manager

When you're deciding how to invest, it's important to remember that the value and income from the fund's assets will go down as well as up. This will cause the value of your investment to fall as well as rise and you may get back less than you originally invested.
